Daniel Chen - Week 12: The implications of Self Justification

 Being write is relative.

As long as I believe I'm right, then I'm in the write, and of course, you'd be wrong about everything else.

Try as hard as you can to justify to me that I'm wrong and your write, but in the end, I can believe what I want to believe.

The thing is self-justification is one of the scariest tools we have at our own disposal these days. I can justify that murdering Mai was okay because she had offended me that one time at the dinner party when she didn't laugh at my joke, or I can justify my own suicide by leading myself to believe that "it was the only way out." In the end, the most important thing to us is that we "believe we are right," and then we'll be able to do anything we put our mind to.

If you've ever tried to argue with an idiot, chances are, you weren't able to convince them of anything, even if they spewed the most BS, absolutely horrid, and impossible things at you. Their conviction when it comes to their opinion is just so strong and unshakable that you physically cannot convince them otherwise. Now I don't know how they get this conviction, but it genuinely shocks me how many people can convince themselves of their own delusion; talk about being DELULU 🙄🙄🙄.

My favorite thing though, is when someone asks for your help, but once you offer them advice, they literally justify their own reasoning and refuse to understand where your point of view comes from. Like I've helped look at some papers sometimes, and I won't say that I'm Mrs. Smith when it comes to English, but please, if you ask me to look at something for you at least listen 😭😭😭. I mean it's okay to not take it as a final edit, but don't just write it off by saying that you think you're right.

Anyways I genuinely have been ranting about nothing because I just want his blog done, soooooo anyone wanna do a round 2 of my first blog? So what's your favorite type of cheesecake, and if so, what's your opinion on a single slice of cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory being like 1700 calories? Additionally, what is the best baked good recipe you have? It'd be great if you could link it for me 🥺🥺🥺 I really need new things to bake for my friends.

ALSO WOOHOO WE GOT A GOOD SCORE ON POAS MY LIFE IS NOW AT ITS PEAK IT ALL GOES DOWNHILL FROM HERE!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for all that you do!

Smiles!

  2. Daniel! Your blogs always give me life. I was not looking forward to do Blog comments but this gave me the energy to do them. I've always thought about putting emojis in my blogs so I'm glad one of us had the courage to actually do it. I also think it's cool that you write your blogs in a way that the person reading can literally hear your voice in your writing (I literally read your blogs in your voice). Anyway, I do agree with you that the most stubborn people are people who set their minds to something. While I think that determinedness is a good quality to have, it should also be one that has limits and is put in practice selectively. As you mentioned, one of the most frustrating things has to be to argue with someone who just refuses to budge. I think being someone like that is the worst "someone" anyone could possibly be. I think it's insensitive and unrealistic to live life expecting others to blindly agree with you all the time, and a part of being a respectful human being is to be able to acknowledge that you're wrong sometimes. Life is all about compromise! And to answer your questions, I kind of hate cheesecake (I'm more of a tres leches or ice cream cake girl) and also sometimes everyone needs a 1,700 calorie cake in their life. ALSO CONGRATS ON POAS! Daniel, don't forget to be brilliant!
